All Stars sack coach Taylor

National First Division promotion hopefuls Cape Town All Stars have confirmed the axing of coach Ian Taylor after just seven games in charge of the side.
The former Ajax Cape Town has paid the price for a poor run of results after being drafted in as a replacement for Dan Malesela, who left in November to join top-flight Chippa United.
The last straw came with a comprehensive 4-0 home loss to city rivals Santos last Friday.
“Cape Town All Stars Football Club can confirm that we have parted ways with head coach Ian Taylor, as well as the technical team of assistant coach Dylan Deane, goalkeeper coach Job Monatse and physiotherapist Haley Smith,” the club said in a statement.
“We thank them for their services and wish them all the best in their future careers. An announcement on the new head coach will be made as soon as the appointment is confirmed.”
All Stars were the front-runners in the NFD in the early stages of the season, but three defeats in a row have seen them slip to seventh, nine points behind leaders Baroka FC, though only two off the promotion playoff places.
Taylor’s seven matches in charge yielded two wins, a draw and four defeats.
