Lwandamina dual role worries Zesco

Zesco United have disclosed that coach George Lwandamina’s dual role as the club and Zambia trainer is a strain on the Faz Super League champions.
Lwandamina is currently caretaker Zambia coach following his appointment in June, 2015.
He recently guided Zambia to the knockout round of the just-ended 2016 African Nations Championship (Chan) in Rwanda where the team made a quarterfinal exit.
Zesco’s statement comes in the wake of revelations by the Football Association of Zambia (Faz) who have said they can only afford to continue with Lwandamina in a caretaker role.
“We are not comfortable with him having dual roles, there will be divided attention,” Zesco chairperson Dennis Banda told The Post.
“We have to sit down with him as an executive. He needs to decide, but we have not yet discussed it.
“If Faz decide to give him a contract, we will support it, since it is national duty, although it will adversely affect our Caf Champions League campaign.”
Meanwhile, Lwandamina returns to club duties this Saturday when Zesco kicks off their 2016 Championship League campaign with a preliminary round, first leg, home fixture against Al Ghazalla of South Sudan.
Lwandamina is heading into his final term of a three year deal as Zesco coach whom he has led to back-to-back league titles in 2014 and 2015.
