Judgement day for Munthali looms

Zambia defender Christopher Munthali is set to know his fate after he was summoned to appear before the Football Association of Zambia (Faz) status committee on Wednesday.
Munthali is embroiled in a contractual dispute between his parent club Power Dynamos and their Kitwe arch-rivals Nkana who also claim the player’s signature.
Power insist that Munthali has twelve months left on his two year contract with them that expires on December 31, 2016.
However, Nkana allege that Munthali is a free agent claiming his contract with Power expired on December 31, 2015.
On Tuesday, the Faz Player Status Committee sat to hear both parties arguments over the matter without Munthali.
“The case has been adjourned to tomorrow (Wednesday) after deliberations,” Faz spokesperson Nkweto Tembwe said.
“The player has been summoned to appear before the players’ status committee at 2pm.”
Munthali spent two seasons on loan at Nkana from Power between 2013 and 2014 after failing to hold down a place at Arthur Davies Stadium.
He flourished at Nkana and helped them win the 2013 league title and while there he earned his first Zambia call-up under ex-coach Herve Renard.
Munthali returned to Power last year, captaining them in the second half of the season and later won the clubs’ Player of the Year Award.
