Although Cameroon have already qualified, they travel to Ivory Coast to wrap up their CAF Afcon 2015 Qualifiers in Group D on Wednesday.
This qualifier kicks-off at 2:00 CAT.
The Indomitable Lions go into this encounter sitting comfortably at the top of the group’s standings with 13 points after five matches having won four and drawn one. On the other hand, the Elephants, occupy the second spot with nine points after registering three wins and two losses.
The hosts are motivated by their previous result after hammering Sierra Leone by 5-1 last Friday which puts them closer to qualifying. However, the rivalry between these two sides is something that cannot be ruled out although the visitors have already secured their spot in Equatorial Guinea.
Cameroon qualified when they beat DR Congo last Saturday courtesy of a goal by Vincent Aboubakar and going into this one, they’ll hope to wrap it in style with a victory.
Coach Herve Renard will hope his side will carry their last week’s form to this match and seal their qualification en route to Equatorial Guinea.
The veteran defender, Kolo Toure, says the game against the four times Afcon winners will be like a final.
“On Wednesday it will be Cameroon, a big opponent. It will be like a final. We need to give everything, we will play at home, we will have our fans behind us,” said Toure.
“I would like to thank the fans for their unconditional support. Even after the equaliser they carried on pushing us. I want a full stadium on Wednesday.
“Against Cameroon it will be a heated battle, it will be war - we will need our supporters to qualify.”
To the Indomitable Lions skipper, Stephane Mbia, they’re in a reconstruction process with a young team but they remain focused.
“We are in a reconstruction process, the team is very young. The coach is busy instilling a new mentality in the squad,” said Mbia.
“There is some discipline, a certain behaviour, and that’s why we are getting results.
“We are very pleased with the qualification, we are going to remain focused and think about our next game which is very important to us.”
This crunch tie is set to get underway at Stade Felix Houphoet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.
