Precisely what his dribbles or cross overs make many a defender look like.
Now that he is back Nigeria international striker Ikechukwu Uche is chomping at the bit and has vowed to go full throttle against South Africa in Wednesday’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against South Africa in Uyo.
Uche made a return to the Super Eagles after spending 19 months in Keshi’s dog-house marking it with a goal in the 2-0 win over Congo in Pointe-Noire last Wednesday.
The Villarreal attacker is now focused on turning on the heat when the reigning African champions tackle Bafana Bafana at the Akwa Ibom International stadium in a game they must win to guarantee a safe passage to the 2015 Afcon.
“Whenever I wear that green white green jersey, I give my best. Everybody saw that last Saturday (when Nigeria beat Congo 2-0),” he told supersport.com. “Our attack will be on fire” he added.
Meanwhile in the back the Super Eagles are facing what looks like a mini crisis in defence with Hope Akpan and Godfrey Oboaboana both ruled out due to injury and suspension.
Efe Ambrose and Kenneth Omeruo have since lost their place in the first team at Celtic and Middlesbrough but Uche believes the African champions will flatten Bafana Bafana if the players selected on Wednesday play as a cohesive unit.
“We must work as a team to get the desired result. I will do my best if I am selected and I believe the same applies for the rest of my teammates,” he said.
Uche has been capped 45 times for Nigeria scoring 19 goals. This means that the Garri Master has struck true an amazing 44.84 % of the time he has played. Come Wednesday it’s a stat he is hoping to improve.
