Florentin Pogba has been ruled out for up to four months after a thigh injury against Cameroon.
This mean the Guinea star will definitely be out of the rest of the Afcon. With Syli Nationale playing Ghana on Sunday, this is a blow for them.
The 24-year old sustained the injury in the 1-1 draw with Cameroon and has already returned to his Saint Etienne base in France.
The development means that the defender, who is the older brother of France and Juventus midfield star Paul, with miss the rest of the Afcon including Sunday's quarter-final tie against Ghana.
Conakry-born Florentin had a brief stint with the France U-20 side before opting to play for Guinea, while Paul decided to stay with France.
He joins a growing list of players so far seriously injured at the Afcon, including the Zambian pair of striker Emmanuel Mayuka and midfielder Nathan Sinkala, as well as Mali's first choice goalkeeper Soumaila Diakite.
