Yattara: Luck was on our side

Guinea striker Mohamed Yattara believes luck played a big role as they managed to advance to the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations after playing draws in all three group matches.
They go through at the expense of Mali after the drawing of lots to determine which of the two teams progressed. Guinea and Mali played to a 1-1 draw in all their matches of group D. Fortunately luck fell on the Guinea side.
“It is a huge joy. We didn’t have our fate into our own hands anymore. Thanks God, luck was on our side. Now, we are all happy."
The forceful striker said they have now learnt their lesson and they will look at doing well when they take on Ghana in the knockout stages.
“We now know what to do for the rest of the competition.
“We are going to play against a very good Ghana side, a team which we know well but which also knows us well,” he said.
Although Guinea were not highly fancied in this group, Yattara said he is aware that they will be playing against players that are more familiar with the competition setup.
“I think the game will be very open. We know that we are going to face great players who are used to competing in big competitions,“ said Yattara.
Ghana reached the knockout stages after beating Bafana Bafana by 2-1 which saw the 2010 World Cup and 2013 Africa Cup host returning home with an early flight.
