Bartlett admits struggle against minnows

Shaun Bartlett has spoken of the difficulties his Lamontville Golden Arrows side faced in their Nedbank Cup Last 16 clash with third-tier Natal United on Sunday.
Abafana Bes’thende edged the part-timers 1-0 thanks to a Mabhuti Khenyeza strike in the second half and have now set up a quarterfinal clash at SuperSport United.
“Playing lower league teams always tends to pose more problems as we didn't know much about them but we had to prepare in the right manner to avoid being eliminated,” Bartlett said.
“We didn't start the game as we planned as far as dictating the tempo of the game and keeping possession. They came with a plan of attacking at all costs as they had nothing to lose.
“We allowed them too much space and time on the ball and they grew in confidence with the support of their travelling crowd behind them.”
“The last 30 minutes was nerve wracking as Natal United came at us in numbers but once again we stood strong and countered with fast attacking play and could have scored the second goal to wrap up the game.”
Golden Arrows currently head the National First Division table, on course for a quick return to the top flight having been relegated at the end of last season.
