Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Monday confirmed that the friendly match between Super Eagles and Cranes of Uganda will hold on Wednesday at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium, Uyo.
The latest confirmation has put to rest speculations that the match has been moved to the Abuja National Stadium.
NFF officials reconfirmed that the government and people of Akwa State are excited about the game which pitched three-time African champions against the 1978 Africa Cup of Nations runners-up.
NFF president Amaju Pinnick on Monday restated the football house unshaken decision to hold the match in Uyo.
“We’ve been discussing with the Government of Akwa Ibom State over the past few months and nothing has changed.
“We appreciate the keen interest of His Excellency, Governor Godswill Akpabio in the development of Nigeria football and also the good people of Akwa Ibom State for their ready hospitality at all times.
“We’ve never had any problem with the Government of Akwa Ibom State. They’re desirous of hosting big games at the marvellous venue that everyone calls the ‘Nest of Champions’,” said Pinnick.
The delegation of Uganda’s Cranes which arrived in Abuja aboard an Ethiopian Airline flight on Monday as well as players and officials of the Super Eagles are expected to be accommodated at the Le Meridien Hotel in Uyo.
The international friendly encounter on Wednesday will kick off at 6pm.
Eagles will play another friendly tie against Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Sunday at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
