Emenike at crossroads with Fener

These are certainly not good times for Nigeria international striker, Emmanuel Emenike.
The striker has endured a very unhappy time at Turkish Super Lig club, Fenerbahçe, scoring just four league goals in 22 appearances for the Yellow Canaries this season.
His relationship with fans of the club have been complicated this season but things reached an alarming nadir on Sunday during Fener’s 1-0 league victory over second-placed Besiktas at Sükrü Saracoglu Stadyumu.
The 28-year-old almost scored in the 19th minute when he showed great upper body strength to shrug off Besiktas’ Neycip Uysal but failed to beat Tolga Zengin as his right-footed shot flew wide off the left hand post.
Almost on cue, the Fener fans, who didn’t take too kindly to the miss, started booing and heckling the Nigerian who lost his cool.
He took off his shirt, spat, voiced some expletives and started racing off towards the tunnel to the consternation of all on the pitch.
The stunned Fenerbahçe bench led by manager, Ismail Kartal had to plead with furious forward, stopping from disappearing down the tunnel.
Kartal eventually managed to convince Emenike to put his shirt back on and continue with the game but the home fans did not relent.
They subsequently booed his every touch almost reducing him to tears until he was mercifully substituted at half time.
Fener eventually won the game 1-0 to close the gap on the leaders, Galatasaray to just two points but it was the back and forth between Emenike and the fans that hogged all the headlines.
