Ordega upbeat of Falcons AAG ticket

Super Falcons striker, Francisca Ordega has assured that her side will qualify for the 11th All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville.

The reigning African champions were held to a 1-1 draw by Mali in the first fixture of the final round qualifying match on Saturday at the Stade Modibbo Keita in Bamako, Mali.

Ordega said her side will get it perfectly right in the reverse fixture in Abuja to book passage to the quadrennial multiple sports showpiece.

“We’re quite disappointed with the 1-1 draw against Mali in Bamako in the first leg fixture of the All Africa Games.

“We wanted to avoid the sad repeat of the event that happened 11 years ago against same side but the ugly incident refused to go away.

“We’re almost on the verge of claiming the maximum three points in the encounter before the unexpected happened.

“We could still have wrapped up the game with as many as four or more goals if we had converted the several chances created in the game.

“Well the event of Saturday in Bamako is history as there is nothing we can do at the moment to change the result.

“However, we’re determined to make amend when both sides clash in the reverse and decisive leg in Nigeria.

“We’ve noted our mistakes and will work assiduously hard toward correcting the shortcomings so that if we’re to create 10 chances in the second leg we’ll convert all to goals.

“Mali were not fantastic in the first leg I think they’re simply lucky on match day but they won’t be twice lucky as they’ll be beaten hands down here in Abuja.

“We’re not in the last edition of the games in Maputo, Mozambique this time around Mali can’t stop our appearance at the upcoming one in Congo Brazzaville,” said the Pitea IF of Sweden markswoman to supersport.com.

The reverse fixture of the final qualifying round is expected to hold on April 4 at the Abuja national Stadium.

The overall winners will automatically qualify for the women football event of the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville.
