Mamelodi Sundowns welcome Platinum Stars to the Lucas Moripe Stadium in an Absa Premiership encounter on Wednesday evening knowing that they could relinquish their league crown with runaway leaders Kaizer Chiefs one win away from claiming the title.
Kick-off is at 7:30pm.
The Brazilians 5-0 defeat to Bloemfontein Celtic all but ended their title hopes and a win for the Amakhosi over Polokwane City at the same time, not matter the result in Atteridgeville, will see the cup makes its way from Chloorkop to Naturena.
Despite all signs suggesting Chiefs will claim the league this season, Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has yet to throw in the towel, but admits the race for league honours is out of 'Downs hands.
"It is not in our hands, I have said it is not in our hands. We are asking for favours, it is not in our hands," said Mosimane.
"No, we can't throw in the towel, that will mean that we don't respect football, that we don't respect people so we have to play. It is not in our hands, we do not worry about things we can't control.
"I will not give up until the day is is not possible."
Stars extended their unbeaten run in the league to three matches with a goalless draw at home to SuperSport United last week.
Cavin Johnson has rejuvenated Dikwena who could move out of danger and up to 10th on the log standings with a win over 'Downs, a team they have had the edge over in recent time.
Goalkeeper Kabelo Dambe expects a tough game against a side eager to make up for their embarrassing defeat to Siwelele.
"Truly speaking it will be a really tough game as Sundowns who will be eager to bounce back also knowing that Chiefs are close to winning the league," said Dambe.
The Botswana gloves man admits Stars are not in a comfortable position at the moment but believes a win will ease relegation fears as they aim to end the season on a high.
"For us we just want to win as many game between now and the end of the season. We are not in a comfortable position at the moment, but I'm sure a win will take us away from the relegation zone," Dambe continued.
"This season hasn't been that bad for us, of course we wanted to defend our cups, but we at least managed to reach the final of one and if we can now push and get into the top eight that would be a great way to end the season looking ahead at next season."
In head-to-head stats, Sundowns and Stars have met in 22 league matches since 2003/04.
The Brazilians have eight wins compared to six for Dikwena, while eight matches have been drawn.
Sundowns have won just three of their 11 home matches against Stars, suffering four defeats in the process.
Last season the Brazilians took four points off Dikwena, drawing 1-1 in Tshwane before claiming a 3-1 win in Rustenburg.
The game will be the first of two meetings between the two sides in the space of 12 days with the reverse league taking place on the 3rd of May at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
