Numba toasts Zanaco win

Zanaco coach Numba Mumamba has described Wednesday’s result over visitors Power Dynamos as a great win.
Zanaco beat Power 1-0 at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka to end the latter’s five-day reign at the summit of the FAZ Super League table to subsequently replace the Kitwe side heading into this weekend’s Week 6 fixtures.
The six-time champions’ win also halted Power’s 100 per cent start to the 2015 season after picking up maximum nine points from their first three games.
“It is a great win,” Numba said. “It was not easy playing a team that was playing continental football.”
Power had only recently returned to league action following their elimination from the 2015 Caf Confederation Cup.
The contest was settled just before the break in the 44th minute when defender Salulani Phiri pounced on a loose ball after Power goalkeeper Joel Kanyeba had parried Portipher Zulu’s initial effort.
Zanaco’s victory extended their home record over Power to four games in which they have now picked up three successive wins plus a scoreless draw in the 2012 season.
Numba’s side lead the FAZ Super League table on 11 points, two more than Power who have been relegated to second position.
Meanwhile, Zanaco stay home again this weekend when they host struggling Napsa Stars.
