Azeez likes pre-season tourney

Niger Tornadoes coach, Hamza Azeez has described the ongoing 16-team pre-season tournament in Kaduna as crucial for the side's quest for promotion in the 2013/14 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The five-day football event started on Monday and will be concluded on Friday involved mostly academies, first, second and third tier league sides like Kaduna United, Ranchers Bees, DSS and Spotlight among others.
The Minna-based side have already qualified for the last eight on Thursday at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium and Kaduna Township Stadium.
Azeez said his side's mission is not essentially to win the tournament's diadem but to see the side's lapses aimed and correcting it before the season's campaign commences.
"Our aim is not mainly to win the tournament but to assess our strength, test the new players in our midst, note our shortcomings with the aim of correcting them before the new season starts.
"Even before the tournament ends on Friday I think we've already met our target if not surpassed it.
"We've seen what we're looking for and we'll go ahead to recruit few players in the required areas to merge them with the old ones.
"Our main target in the coming season is to win promotion to the Premier League where I believe the side rightly belonged," Azeez said to supersport.com.
The side have brought back their erstwhile technical adviser, Godwin Koko Uwua to take charge of the side campaign in the coming season following the departure of coach Bala Nkuyu to the national Under-17 women side, the Flamingos.
