Scott back for Ajax

Granwald Scott is set to make a much anticipated return from injury for Ajax Cape Town on Friday night when they host Maritzburg United in one of only two league games this weekend.
The former captain, still very much seen as the heartbeat of the home team’s midfield, is the latest on a long list of players to return to action as Ajax begin now to weather their early season injury crisis.
Scott has been struggling with a groin injury that doctors have been unable to pin point and which coach Muhsin Ertugral earlier in the season suggested might be more psychological than physical.
The 26-year-old Scott has played just one game this season against Bidvest Wits in September.
Lance Davids, who was hurt in the last league game against SuperSport United, and Lebogang Manyama are also all available to play tonight (FRI) at the Cape Town Stadium, said coach Muhsin Ertugral.
There is also a chance that fullback Cecil Lolo will pass a late fitness test.
Ertugral said Maritzburg were a side to be respected even if they are in a slump that has seen them go four games without a win, the last three of which have ended in defeat.
“They are very competitive in one versus one situations and a very organised team at the back. We will have to see how we are going to unlock them,” he chuckled.
The return of Scott leaves just six players now left on the long term injury list at Ajax – Nazeer Allie, Franklin Cale, Travis Graham, Thato Mokeke, Koen van de Laak and Ndumiso Vezi.
