Al Wahda FC of UAE have announced they have cancelled the signing of Ghana defender, Harrison Afful.
Afful arrived UAE this week and passed the medical tests with Al Wahda but the club announced on Thursday that they have called the deal on their official Twitter.
The Abu Dhabi club explained that they backed off the signing of the Ghanaian since they did not receive any go-ahead from his current employers, Esperance Sportive de Tunis.
The player's agent, Lotfi Zarrouk, has confirmed that Afful will move to Al Wahda next season.
"Al Wahda waited for a reply from Esperance about their bid but the Tunisian giants did not send a reply and that made the UAE side cancel the deal," Zarouk said to Tunisia Radio.
Reports suggested that the Black Stars defender had signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Excellencies, as Al Wahda are also called.
Afful's contract with Esperance will expire by the end of this season as he has refused to extend his time with the Blood and Gold.
