Gabonese side Centre de Formation de Mounana will count on experienced campaigner David Tyavkase to motivate the young squad as they debut in Africa’s second-tier Cup competition, the Caf Confederation Cup.
It is the second time Tyavkase will play for a Gabonese side on the continent after defending the colours of Union Sportive de Bitam in the 2014 Caf Champions League.
“Mounana is a good side and I’m happy to join them. My Gabonese adventure stared after my former Nigerian club, Heartland, played US Bitam.
“I got an offer to join Bitam, where I played under the legendary Cameroonian forward Francois Omam-Biyik and now it’s Mounana,” he said to supersport.com.
Interestingly, Mounana’s debut in Africa did not go beyond the preliminary round of the 2013 Caf Champions League.
However, the journeyman is convinced Mounana can make an impact in Africa.
“We have a good squad that can do well in the competition,” Tyavkase told supersport.com.
Founded in 2006, Mounana won their only league title six years later in 2012.
Mounana begin their campaign against Zanzibar side Polisi.
