De Sa bemoans Polokwane draw

Ajax Cape Town coach Roger de Sa bemoaned his side’s luck as they let a late lead slip in their 1-1 draw with Polokwane City on Wednesday night.
The Urban Warriors looked set for three points after Tashreeq Morris put them ahead early on, only for Sipho Jembula to bundle home the ball with virtually the last kick of the game and seal a draw with the visitors.
De Sa admits the result “feels like a loss” and acknowledged too they has numerous opportunities to have put the game to bed.
“I’m disappointed with the result, when you score early and have so many chances to wrap up the game, it is obviously not good. But we have to learn from it and try get better at it,” De Sa said.
“They are a very difficult team to play against, they play a lot of tiki-taka football and they come at you. But when you turn them you can catch them out and we did, but we did not take advantage of it.”
It was a first competitive fixture of 2015 for both sides and De Sa says that among the disappointment, he was pleased with the work ethic of his side.
“I thought a lot of the guys worked hard. It’s just unfortunate we made silly errors in the last minute or so. I expected better from senior players.
“It’s going to happen when you don’t take your chances, but for us it feels like a loss and for them a win, we just have to carry on.”
Ajax now have a break this weekend, with their next fixture in the Nedbank Cup against Northern Cape fourth-tier side Mainstay United on February 22.
