Six seasons have now come and gone since Hearts of Oak won the Ghana top-flight. Can they end the drought?
A former Hearts superstar certainly thinks so. Bernard 'Dada' Dong-Bortey, who was part of the Hearts of Oak team that won the Caf Confederation Cup in 2004 tips his former side to win the 2015/16 season’s league.
The last time they won was in the 2008/09 season. “I have not monitored the current Hearts of Oak coach, but I believe they have the sort of quality in their team to win the league. Playing for Hearts of Oak is about having confidence and character and I think the current playing body has them,” he told Asempa FM.
Dong will have his loyalties split, after signing to play for Dreams FC in the upcoming season. He was the league's joint top scorer in 2002.
The new season starts on Saturday.
