Mogakolodi Ngele is expected to return from injury for Mamelodi Sundowns in the Absa Premiership this weekend but will start on the bench as competition for places in the starting line-up-up heats up.
Sundowns have hardly changed their line-up over the last months as they have embarked on a 17-match unbeaten run in all competition that has ensured a five point lead at the top of the standings.
Botswana international Ngele, could, however get some game time in the second half of Sunday’s match against Free State Stars in Orkney as coach Pitso Mosimane seeks to rest players as soon as he can.
On Tuesday, with a handsome lead over Chippa United in their Absa Premiership match at Atteridgeville, Mosimane took off Khama Billiat, Keegan Dolly and Hlompho Kekana to rest them for the travails ahead, including next week’s African Champions League trip to Zimbabwe.
”We need the legs and we have had to save these players and pull them. If I could have made four or five substitutes I would have taken out Leonardo Castro and Thabo Nthethe too. Thabo’s age must be considered and Leo has been battling with a calf injury.”
The 25-year-old Ngele moved to Sundowns from Platinum Stars at the beginning of the season but has started only three matches in the Absa Premiership and is yet to score a goal.
