Bidvest Wits will be eager to bounce back to winning ways in the Absa Premiership when they host Platinum Stars at the Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday.
Kick-off is at 7:30pm.
The Clever Boys are coming off a 1-0 defeat to Bloemfontein Celtic away in their previous league game at the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium on Sunday.
This was their third defeat in their last five league matches. The Braamfontein side have been very inconsistent in the process.
Since losing to Kaizer Chiefs away last year, Wits have gone on to win against Chippa United away, before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Mpumalanga Black Aces at home.
The Absa Premiership title challengers then hammered Polokwane City 5-0 prior to their most recent clash with Celtic last weekend.
Gavin Hunt's side will be without their inspirational goalkeeper, Moeneeb Josephs, against Stars as the 35-year-old shot-stopper is suspended.
Wits are placed third on the Absa Premiership standings having accumulated 32 points from 16 matches.
New Clever Boys striker James Keene has been the talk of the town after scoring four goals in his first three league games.
The 30-year-old English-born forward explained scoring goals for the Clever Boys is a bonus for him because winning games is more important.
“I just want to keep doing what I do best on the field. I will do my best to play my normal game," Keene said.
"I want to help the team win as many games as possible. But if I score goals, it would be a big bonus for me.”
Meanwhile, Stars will be hoping to record their third consecutive league victory when they travel to Johannesburg on Wednesday.
Dikwena recorded a comfortable 2-0 home victory over University of Pretoria in their previous league game last weekend.
Veteran midfielder Solomon Mathe and young full-back Siyabonga Zulu were on the scoresheet for Stars at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
The Rustenburg-based outfit have won three of their last five league matches. The other two games ended in a draw and a defeat to Free State Stars.
Cavin Johnson's side head into the clash with Wits without any players or technical team members on the Premier Soccer League (PSL) suspension list.
Stars are placed fifth on the Absa Premiership standings having accumulated 26 points from 16 matches.
Dikwena head coach Johnson stated that they expect a big fight when they lock horns with Wits, who beat them in the first-round.
“Wits are one of the front runners. They are doing very well. They have a good team and a good coach. We are going to them on Wednesday," Johnson said.
"We can expect a big fight and hopefully we can maintain this kind of intensity and this maturity of ball retention," he added
"We are able to go there and put up a good fight as far as football is concerned.”
When Wits and Stars clashed in the first-round encounter, the former emerged 4-0 winners over Dikwena at the Royal Barokeng Stadium.
Phakamani Mahlambi, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Papy Faty netted for Wits. The other goal was an own-goal by Stars defender Siboniso Gumede.
