Orlando Pirates will welcome Ajax Cape Town at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday night hoping to get back to winning ways in the Absa Premiership.
Kick-off is at 7:30pm.
The Buccaneers have experienced their ups and downs in their season thus far and are now under pressure to collect points and move up the log standings.
Eric Tinkler’s side is fresh from a 1-1 draw against Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs last Saturday and will now be going all out to bag the full three points.
Prior to the Soweto derby, Pirates drew 3-3 against strugglers Maritzburg United and lost 1-0 to Jomo Cosmos.
On the log table, the Soweto giants occupy position 13 with 17 points from 15 league matches and welcoming their former coach in Roger De Sa is set to be a test of character for the hosts.
Speaking after the derby, defender and skipper Thabo Matlaba said they are taking it one game at a time.
“We are now taking it one game at a time. We are now focusing on the next match against Ajax Cape Town and we need to show the same performance we did in the second half against Chiefs,” Matlaba said.
"At halftime we played a lot of long balls and we discussed that at the interval that we needed to play our normal game in the second half."
Looking at the MTN8 Cup champions, the Urban Warriors are also not consistent in their run and will be out to get an away win at Orlando.
In their 2016 run so far, Ajax have registered two wins over Premier Soccer League returnees, Ezenkosi and Lamontville Golden Arrows before losing 3-1 to Chippa United.
Despite beating Amakhosi in the Wafa Wafa final last September, the Parow-based side have seen their form taking a slide and the fact that they also lost their defender in Cecil Lolo, RDS has the responsibility to ensure they move up the log table.
They’re sitting at position 11 with 19 points from 15 league matches.
According to defender Rivaldo Coetzee, the mood is high in their camp and their attitude is to focus on one game at a time.
“Look, that’s just how football is. Sometimes we dominate teams, but fail to score. The opposition then gets one attack, there is an error at the back, and they score,” said Coetzee.
“The mood in the camp is high and the character in the squad is as strong as ever.
“Our attitude is to focus on each game as it comes. We try not to look too far ahead…win the game at hand and then prepare for the next one.”
