The Algeria Football Federation president, Mohamed Raouraoua, has declared that his country has closed the chapter of missing out of playing host to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Algerians were furious with Caf's decision to hand Gabon the host rights for the 2017 edition of the Afcon amid claims that the African football governing body should make the voting process that picked the Central African nation as winner public.
Gabon beat Algeria and Ghana during the bidding process, but Raouraoua now says his country is focused on building a team to win the African title and also plan to put in a bid for another big football event.
"We want to forget what happened there and prepare ourselves again. Yes we will not host the big event but we have a team that can win the title there [in Gabon]. I trust that our Desert Foxes can win the title and make all Algerians proud in Gabon," Raouraoua said.
"The players know how important this tournament is for us as a nation and I trust them to do well. Now I don't want to talk more about that."
Algeria have been drawn in the Group J with Ethiopia, Lesotho and Seychelles for the 2017 Afcon qualification.
