Champagne still on ice for Bartlett

Lamontville Golden Arrows took a giant step towards immediate promotion back to the Absa Premiership this season but coach Shaun Bartlett has warned his players to keep the champagne on ice.
Golden Arrows’ 4-2 victory over city rivals Royal Eagles moved them six points clear at the top of the National First Division with just three rounds to play, meaning they could clinch promotion at Thanda Royal Zulu on Wednesday if other results go their way.
But Bartlett has warned his side against complacency.
“The champagne will be on ice until we know we have secured that automatic promotion and achieved our goal set out at the beginning of the season,” he said.
The former Bafana Bafana striker did congratulate his side for the fighting spirit they showed in coming from behind to claim the win over Eagles.
“This game today was a totally different scenario as I've never seen rivals go at each other with everything and probably produced one of the most entertaining games for us as a club and fans were concerned in the NFD this season,” the coach said.
“We started the game at the tempo that we demanded from our players and applied a lot of pressure on our opponents by forcing them into mistakes and creating some chances ourselves.
“Going a goal behind always seems to bring the best out of my players and we bounced back through another goal from Mabhudi Khenyeza.
The concentration level normally drops after scoring and that's how we conceded the second shortly after our equaliser.
After sorting out some minor problems in our play, we came out with more determination and desire to win the game.
“The next goal was always going to be important as far as the result was concerned and fortunately for us it came through an Andile Fikizolo penalty.”
