Zesco United coach George Lwandamina is delighted to see his side return to winning ways.
The defending Super League champions beat visitors Red Arrows 3-2 on Saturday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola to end a two-match winless streak.
Zesco had prior to beating Arrows picked up two points out of a possible six.
“What is important is to win after drawing two games in a roll,” Lwandamina said.
“The win is good for the team and the boys played very well despite the little time we had to work.”
Zesco’s win came just four days after they were held to a scoreless away draw by Green Buffaloes last Wednesday in Lusaka just after drawing by the same scoreline with Nkana on April 19 in Kitwe.
However, Zesco were made to work hard for the three points by Arrows who fought back to equalise after Jackson Mwanza and Winston Kalengo had given the hosts a 2-0 lead with goals in the first and 19th minutes respectively.
Evans Musonda reduced that margin in the 30th minute to see the two sides go 2-1 into halftime.
Ex-Zesco striker Festus Mbewe equalised in the 65th minute before Humphrey Maseneko snatched the winner in the 85th minute.
Zesco moved up from second to fifth place after the win on 11 points, three points behind leaders Zanaco.
