Inspired Ajax eye Maritzburg win

Following their Nedbank Cup win last weekend, Ajax Cape Town travel to Maritzburg United hoping to bag the three points when they clash in an Absa Premiership match on Tuesday night at Harry Gwala Stadium. Kick-off is at 7:30pm.
The Urban Warriors have not been consistent in the Absa Premiership as compared to their Ke Yona Cup run after winning against University of Pretoria and then losing to Free State Stars a week ago.
However, Roger De Sa’s men will be inspired by their 2-1 win over Gordon Igesund’s SuperSport United on Saturday night. They’re placed at position six with 37 points with only four matches to wrap the season.
Looking at the Team of Choice’s camp, they’re a bit rusty as they last played a league match when they won 1-0 against Bloemfontein Celtic two weeks ago.
Steve Komphela’s men are placed at position eight with 33 points from 26 matches and a win could help them to consolidate their top-eight spot.
In the reverse fixture in Cape Town back in November, both sides played to a 0-0 draw and this time around both teams will eye the full three points as they’re looking to finish in the top eight.
According to United’s midfielder Thokozani Sekotlong, the match is set to be a tightly contested affair but they want to bag the spoils.
“It’s going to be a tough one I must say because they’re motivated by the Nedbank win and they’re really good fighters,” said Sekotlong.
“However, for us it’s all about working hard to retain the three points because we want the top-eight spot.
“We know we play well at home and sometimes we fail to take and convert our chances – we just need to score and we can claim the three points.“
Nevertheless, to the Urban Warriors' experienced striker, Nathan Paulse, the boys will have to show the same fighting effort in order to come back with the three points.
“I think it’s not going to be an easy match because we both want to be in the top eight, but I believe there’s a chance for us to claim the points,” said Paulse.
“It’s going to be a different game from the cup match but we’re going there for a fight – if we come back with something it will be great but we aim to score the full three points.
“I’m confident that we’ll do well because we’re inspired by the cup victory, especially coming back from behind to win the match.”
