Egypt football restarts without fans

Football will return to Egyptian stadia, but all behind closed doors.
Competitions are set to resume next month after the Cairo Air Defense Stadium disaster halted all football activities over two weeks ago, Egypt's cabinet announced on Wednesday.
After discussions between the cabinet and the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), the former decided to form a committee consisting of reps of the interior and sports ministries to instigate the necessary procedures to resume competitions after 40 days of mourning, reports in the country say.
The Egyptian Premier League as well as the rest of football competitions have been frozen since 8 February, when 20 Zamalek supporters were killed after police forces used teargas to disperse a crowd of fans attempting to enter the Air Defence Stadium ahead of a league match with ENPPI.
Most of the Premier League games have been played behind closed doors since over 70 Ahly fans were killed in February 2012 after being attacked by Masry fans in Port Said Stadium after a league game.
