URA set up Pirates clash

Robert Sesentongo struck the winner before seeing red as 10-man URA edged Madagascar’s ASSM Elgeco Plus 1-0 on Saturday to set up a clash with South Africa’s Orlando Pirates in the first round of the Caf Confederations Cup.
The tax collectors progressed with a 4-2 aggregate having edged the Malagasy 3-2 in Kampala two weeks ago. This was also the Ugandans’ first ever away win since making their continental bow just over a decade ago.
And they did not have to wait; Ssentongo breaking the deadlock as early as the fourth minute in a match where just a draw would have seen URA through.
The striker, who also scored a brace in Kampala, was later to be sent off but the 10 men held on to claim victory.
The reigning Uganda Cup holders, however, face an even sterner opposition in Orlando Pirates in a fortnight.
Coach Alex Isabirye’s side will play the first leg away in South Africa hoping to stay in with a chance ahead of the return in Kampala two weeks later.
