Gabi: Losing 1-0 in Leverkusen a good result for Atletico

The Rojiblancos captain conceded that the Spanish champions got off lightly in Germany, given their poor performance and Tiago's dismissal
Gabi believes that a 1-0 loss was actually a good result for 10-man Atletico Madrid in Wednesday's Champions League last 16 first leg with Bayer Leverkusen.
Gabi concurred, conceding that Atleti had been a clear second best on the night, but the Rojiblancos captain insists that all is not lost and has faith in a Vicente Calderon comeback.
"It was a very, very complicated game for us," the midfielder told his club's official website. "Bayer played a very intense game, with a lot of speed up front.
"They were very comfortable pressuring us and they have been better than us in that regard.
"They scored the only goal but, given the sending-off, the 1-0 was good for us. But we there’s still the second leg and we will try to turn it around.
"It is a difficult result but I trust in this team to advance."
Gabi's team-mate, Miguel Angel Moya, also believes that last season's Champions League finalists still have every chance of progressing to this year's quarter-finals.
"We wanted a better result but we have the second leg at the Calderon," the goalkeeper added. "We can face it with hope. The tie is fairly open."
Atletico will now face Sevilla, Valencia and Espanyol before attempting to overturn their 1-0 deficit against Bayer in the Spanish capital on March 17.
