Caps head to Malawi for friendlies

Zimbabwe giants Caps United arrive in Malawi this Saturday for a Zambezi Soccer Challenge Cup match against Big Bullets at Silver Stadium on March 3 2015 in the capital, Lilongwe.
Organising committee general secretary of the match Kelvin Moyo confirmed that a 27-member Caps’ delegation would tune up against Silver Strikers on March 1 before facing the Bullets. Caps squad includes Malawians Ishmael Thindwa, Gerald Phiri Junior and George Nyirenda.
“They are coming with their business development manager. This is an opportunity for our clubs to learn from him. Caps will also face Bullets on March 4 at the Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre,” Moyo.
Moyo claimed that 70 percent of gate proceeds from the second match at the Kamuzu Stadium will go towards the Bullets’ 2015 Caf Champions League campaign.
The Bullets host Fomboni this Saturday in a return leg of the Champions League preliminary round. Moyo anticipates the Bullets’ progression to the first round, hence the 70 percent promise.
Bullets general secretary Harold Fote yesterday confirmed the March 3 match, while hinting that the second match’s date was subject to further discussions.
The tricky part is on whether the Bullets would be able to travel back from Lilongwe and face Caps in Blantyre the following day, Fote noted.
