Raymond Domenech @ Getty Images Domenech eyes Amavubi job

Former France head coach Raymond Domenech is interested in coaching the Rwanda national football team ahead of the 2016 African Nations Championship that will be hosted in Rwanda from January 16-February 7.
The 63 year old Domenech who coached Les Blues from 2004-2010 is among the 39 coaches who are interested in taking up the Amavubi job following Stephen Constantine’s resignation last month.
Domenech guided France to the 2006 World Cup final losing to Italy while coaching the golden generation including star players like Zinedine Zidane, Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Claude Makelele, Emmanuel Petit, Patrice Evra and Patrick Trezeguet among others.
The long list of foreign coaches includes former Zimbabwe coach Roy Maicol Barreto from Portugal, former Niger coach Patrice Neveu from France who also coached Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo and Mauritania as well as former Rayon Sports head coach Didier Gomes da Rosa (France) now in charge of Cameroonian side Coton Sport.
Former APR coach Rene Feller (Netherlands), former Sierra Leone coach Johnny McKinstry (Ireland) and the current Tanzania U-17 and U-20 coach Stewart Hall have applied for the Amavubi job too.
Rwanda Football Federation (Ferwafa) technical director Lee Johnson admitted that, “It is very good to get high profile coaches interested in the Amavubi job. This goes to show the level of interest that Rwanda is making across Africa and the world.”
Johnson related the high interest to Chan which will be hosted in Rwanda 10 months from now, “Every coach wants to be on the big stage and coaches recognize that and want to be a part of the continued success.”
According to Johnson, Ferwafa will name the short list by the end of February and will announce the Amavubi head coach on March 15.
