Duforg new marketing, communications head

Rwanda Football Federation (Ferwafa) has named Jerome Duforg as the new head of marketing and communications on a three-year contract.
The Frenchman has been tasked with making the football institution an independent entity especially ahead of the 2016 African Nations Championship (Chan) that will be hosted in Rwanda.
In an interview with supersport.com, Duforg said that he was going to start from scratch. “I am arriving in a country where there is nothing, there is no sponsor for the league, there is no TV broadcasting the topflight league and there is no one broadcasting the national team games and this is our focus.”
“The money we get from this in the future can be used for the development of other departments like grassroots development,” explained Duforg, who is enthusiastic about the challenge ahead.
Duforg revealed that he wants to bring on board banks, companies in the oil, telecom and insurance sectors as well as the beer market and believes that hosting Chan next year will attract several companies who will gain through visibility.
Duforg, a Fifa Master Alumni, worked alongside the Dubai Sports Council to create, implement and develop the UAE National Beach Soccer League from 2012-2013.
The former Executive Director of FC Talanta in the Kenyan second division helped the Kenyan outfit sign a deal with German-based company Jako for two years starting May 2013, becoming the only team in Kenya with a kits supplier.
