Enyeama stunned at 100 caps dent

Super Eagles captain and goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, who earned his 100th cap for Nigeria, painted a pitiable sight in the 0-1 loss to the Cranes of Uganda on Wednesday.
The eagles lost 0-1 to their East African opponents in the international friendly match on Wednesday at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium in Uyo.
Faruku Miya's match winner in the 81st minute proved adequate to hand the Ugandans the vital win against the Nigerians.
Enyeama, who expressed gratitude to Nigerians over his 100 caps, however regretted the loss to the Ugandans on his special day.
“A great disappointment to lose against Uganda on this auspicious day that marked my 100 caps in the colours of the Super Eagles.
“There was prestige at stake in the game and the inner most desire to maintain a clean sheet on this special day in my life.
“Well this is football, we’ve to live with the reality of the defeat and plan better in subsequent matches.
“However, I must say a big thank you to Nigerians, including those in Diaspora, for believing in me in the past 13 years. I want to say I love them all,” said the Lille of France shot stopper to supersport.com.
Enyeama, however, admitted the obvious, saying that he cannot play football forever preferring to consult the coaches before he decides on his Eagles future.
“I’ve to stop playing for the nation at some point and concentrate fully on a club assignment but I’ll sit down with the coaches to sort out things before a decision is made.
“I can’t play football actively forever. At the right time a decision will be taken on my Eagles future,” said the former Enyimba goaltender.
Eagles will on Sunday confront South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in another high-profile friendly tie at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
