NFF unhappy with Eagles

The Nigeria Football Federation on Wednesday night held showdown talks with the players at a meeting held after Nigeria’s loss to Uganda in an international friendly at the Uyo International Stadium.
Apparently, the Super Eagles 1-0 loss to Uganda didn't sit down with the hierarchy and a meeting was held at the Le Meridian abode of the Super Eagles to iron out the issues as Nigeria’s fortunes at senior level continue to dwindle.
A source in the Nigeria Football Federation, spoke to supersport.com under anonymity said it was a clear the air talks as NFF President Amaju Pinnick sat down with the players to charter a way forward for the Super Eagles.
“You are here and you can see the look on the faces of the players and officials around you. No one is happy that Nigeria lost,”

“How can we lose to Uganda on our home turf? Something is wrong somewhere and that is why the president summoned this meeting with the players.
“It was a clear the air meeting. The president told them how he felt about the recent results, especially Nigeria’s inability to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations and the recent spate of bad results.
“He also made it clear the NFF board was ready to do whatever it takes to get Nigeria back on track at senior level but expects the players to buck up too.
“He is a good man, remember when he took responsibility for out Afcon miss despite just coming on board when the damage has been done. He wants to make things right, but he has to read the riot act to the players.
“The meeting was fruitful at the end of the day and the players promised that things will look up starting with the game against South Africa,”he added.
The Super Eagles will depart Nigeria on Friday for South Africa to keep a date with the Bafana Bafana in friendly international on Sunday, March 29th.
South Africa beat Swaziland 3-1 away on Wednesday as they prepare to take on Nigeria on Sunday. The Bafana Bafana ended Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations as they held Nigeria to a 2-2 draw which effectively put paid to Nigeria chances.
