APR eye consistency against Isonga

Table leaders APR will be hoping to maintain their winning streak when they take on bottom placed Isonga FC in the National Football League at the Kigali regional stadium.
The reigning Rwandan league champions are favourites in this encounter and head coach Ljubomir Petrovic is optimistic will pick all three points that will see the army side stay at the helm of the 14-team competition.
APR has amassed 26 points from 11 matches, winning eight, drawing twice and losing just one game to the lowly Gicumbi in November. The military side is two points ahead of AS Kigali, six higher than Police FC and seven above archrivals Rayon Sports.
“We want to win every game that we play and currently, we have so many players back from injury and we had good training sessions after the festive season and at least the players have rested enough after a tight schedule in the past two months,” mentioned Petrovic.
The Serbian trainer, who is coaching in Africa for the first time, is keen on retaining the league title and has urged his players to continue working hard as the season approaches the half way mark with two more games to go.
Meanwhile, Isonga which is yet to win a game this season will be relying on striker Danny Usengimana to lead the youthful side to victory in what is arguably their biggest game this season.
Usengimana, who has recently received praise for his alertness in front of goal while on national duty with the Amavubi and the U-23 side, will be hoping to get past the APR central defensive pair of Emery Bayisenge and Ismael Nshutiyamagara.
Despite the contrast in exposure and experience between the latter and Usengimana, today’s game will provide for lack of respect for pedigree as both sides eye maximum points for different reasons.
