Police wary of wounded Rayon Sports

Police FC head coach Andre Cassa Mbungo is vigilant as his side takes on Rayon Sports at the Muhanga Stadium on Tuesday afternoon as the National Football League returns after a two-week break.
Mbungo’s side sits in third position on the table standings, one point ahead of the Blues that have suffered a four-game winless streak in the nationwide league.
“It is difficult to play against a struggling team because every game that they play, they think that that is the game that will change their fortunes. We want to win this game and we shall bring everything we have to it and hope to win,” explained Mbungo.
The last time the two sides met was the semi-final of the Ombudsman Cup last month and Police registered a 2-1 win against Rayon Sports to advance to the finals where they lost 1-0 to AS Kigali.
Rayon Sports head coach Andy Magloire Mfutila explained that he believes his side has what it takes to win today’s encounter. He said, “It will not be easy but we have to be hopeful and work hard because we want to return to continue challenging for the title.”
Mfutila, who took charge of Rayon Sports last November is yet to win a game with the Nyanza-based side and has admitted to feeling the pressure.
In the other games, Musanze will be up against Amagaju as the former attempts to register their first win since November 1. Musanze’s newly appointed head coach Hussein Baraka is yet to win a game since taking over last month having conceded lone strikes against both Police and Mukura.
Etincelles will host Mukura with the latter eyeing a fourth consecutive victory that could see Geoffrey Okoko’s side, eight points above the relegation zone if he bags maximum points.
The Burundian trainer, who took over after the sacking of Jean Baptiste Kayiranga in November, has since guided Mukura out of the relegation zone into safe territory and has admitted that he wants to finish in the top half of the table.
In Rusizi, Espoir host the stubborn Marines side that stunned Rayon Sports in a 1-1 draw on Christmas Eve having earlier defeated Police 3-1 and held table leaders APR to a 1-1 draw.
