APR go five points clear

Reigning league champions APR overcame Isonga FC 2-0 at the Kigali regional stadium in a one-sided encounter to establish a five-point lead at the helm of the table standings.
Midfielder Yannick Mukunzi opened the scoring in the 49th minute before Issa Bigirimana added a second eight minutes later to hand the table leaders a comfortable score line in the second half.
Talisman Andrew Buteera made his season debut after coming on in the second half and glimpses of his creative ability were on display and the army side continued pressing Isonga on the counter attack.
In the 75th minute, Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza was sent off for a second bookable offense but APR managed to hold onto their lead and pick up maximum points.
APR head coach Ljubomir Petrovic was impressed with his side’s victory and admitted that it is wins like this one that will help them to retain the title at the end of the season.
The Serbian tactician who is coaching in Africa for the first time explained that consistency in the domestic league will come in handy as they prepare for their Caf Champions League preliminary round encounter against Liga Desportiva de Maputo next month.
