Heartland set to name Onu as coach

Heartland are poised to officially name the former Sunshine Stars tactician, Erasmus Onu as technical adviser for the 2014/15 Glo Premier League season.
The former ABS coach will fill the vacant position created by the departure of coach Kelechi Emeteole to oriental neighbours, Enugu Rangers.
A supersport.com source said that except a last minute change of mind happens, the Naze Millionaires camp coach Onu is certain to resume work in a matter of days.
"Heartland have appointed a technical adviser in the person of former Sunshine Stars coach, Erasmus Onu.
"The coaches and players are anxiously awaiting his arrival, unveiling as well as resumption of duty which will be concluded in the next few days.
"Though the management has maintained absolute quietness over the widely known appointment everybody is aware he is the one to replace Kelechi Emeteole.
"It's a known fact that coach Onu is the new technical adviser. The management is just waiting for an auspicious time to make the official pronouncement and the unveiling.
"The management is convinced the experience of coach Onu will greatly help the side reclaim the lost glory in the domestic league," said the unnamed source to supersport.com.
However, there was no official confirmation at Heartland of the appointment of coach Onu as technical adviser though the source hinted the former Sunshine Stars coach is among the coaches that showed interest in the plum job.
"There is no official pronouncement on such appointment at the moment, we've not been briefed on the matter and it'll be wrong to act on hearsay.
"What I know for certain is that he is one of the coaches that indicated interest for the job.
"The management may consider him ably deserving for the job but nothing of such is on ground at the moment," said the unnamed official to supersport.com.
When contacted on the widely rumoured appointment at Heartland, Onu, who sounded a bit noncommittal, said he is weighing the option of quitting the coach job due to some untoward practices in the respected profession.
"Coaching profession has become anything goes in the country, a celebration of mediocrity, I'm even deciding to quit the career and focus my energy on something else.
"It's just that football is in my system and still gives me joy. If not I would've quit long time ago.
"I'm a principled person, if I don't have job I won't break my head nor lick anyone boot as I'm unlikely to go hungry.
"I'm still available, very much in the market, at least, I've not quit yet so if you give me job at Heartland and the deal is perfect why not I'll take it," said Onu to supersport.com.
Coaches Bob Acholonu and Bethel Orji, among others are in charge of the team's programmes while the waiting game continues for the official announcement of a new coach.
