URA coach Alex Isabirye is targeting his second Cup as the tax collectors coach when the three-time champions open their Uganda Cup campaign next month.
And in his second stint as the taxmen’s coach, Isabirye is having defending the Uganda Cup, which they won last year under the then coach Paul Nkata, a matter of urgency.
URA have been pitted against non-league side KCCA Corporates in the draws for the round of 64.
“It’s (Uganda Cup) a priority,” Isabirye is quoted in a Ugandan publication, the Daily Monitor, from Njeru, where he and other coaches are undergoing a Caf B License coaching course.
“My bosses demand results and the Uganda Cup is always one of those titles we aim for together with the league.”
Should URA go past KCCA Corporate, they are likely to play their opponents from last year’s final KCC. The latter will, however, have to negotiate Sseta United.
“That’s the beauty of a knockout draw; you can never tell what may come out of it. But for URA and KCCA to meet at the round of 32, we both must win our round of 64 matches,” added Isabirye, who won his only Uganda Cup title with URA in 2012.
URA have won the Uganda Cup three times; the first coming in 2005 under caretaker Deo Sserwanda.
