AmaZulu take aim at Chippa

AmaZulu will be hoping to continue with their winning form when they take on Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium on Friday in their Absa Premiership encounter.
Kick-off is at 8:00pm
AmaZulu are going into this match with high confidence after having beaten Bivest Wits by 3-1 at home on Tuesday night at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Despite this victory, coach Steve Barker warned that his players should not get carried away, but they must stay focused and hungry.
“The victory against Wits was good but we now need to focus on the game at hand and make sure that we win," said Barker.
"I have told my players that our previous victory means nothing if we don’t win on Saturday.
"I am happy with our performance so far and I trust that we will do well.”
The Durban side has claimed nine points from 12 away matches this season and are still seating at the bottom of the log.
Barker said the form of his strikers and the overall fighting spirit from his team gives him confidence that they can still turn things around.
“We have had good performances this year and the players are all showing good commitment," added Barker.
"It is good to see the players all getting into the party and the likes of youngster Thabiso Dlamini showing more hunger to succeed at the club.”
On the other hand Chippa saw their winless run in the league extended to 10 matches when they were beaten 2-0 by Orlando Pirates in midweek.
The Eastern Cape side has claimed 17 points from 11 home matches this season, and are now placed 11th on the Absa Premiership log with 24 points from 22 matches.
Their coach Ernst Middendorp said they have no choice, but to get the maximum points against Usuthu on Friday after failing against Orlando Pirates where they lost 2-0.
“We have to remain concentrated now with two games at home against AmaZulu and Swallows – this is the type of game where we have to get our points,” he said.
Going to this match they will also be depending on the former AmaZulu goalkeeper Mbongeni Mzimela who pulled off brilliant saves against Orlando Pirates.
“If it was not for Mzimela the score would not have been the same against Pirates," added Middendorp.
"I think he has improved and has done well considering the amount of critics he has had over the past."
