The Predictor settles for 3SC, Heartland

For me, there is no better setting to set the tone for the second gameweek in the top division. Two of the Glo Premier League's traditional teams, 3SC and Heartland, go head to head this Saturday in one of Nigeria's largest towns, Ibadan.
Up north, champions Kano Pillars play their first game of the season after being excused from their opening day clash with Heartland following the armed robbery attack on their team.
On Sunday, Kwara United play hosts to El-Kanemi Warriors and the match is live on SuperSport Select from 4pm local time [5pm CAT].

3SC v Heartland [Lekan Salami Stadium]
It was a disappointing start for 3SC after returning to the top flight. They lost 0-2 at Wikki Tourists and their performance was quite poor, but I expect they will step up a notch. And they will face Heartland who have travelled without experienced duo of Chinedu Efugh and Julius Ubido.
I expect the like of Rasheed Olabiyi to pull the strings in 3SC's first home game of the season. I am sure that faithful of 3SC will hope that Heartland do not repeat that performance of 2013 when they defeated the Ibadan club 2-0 in this same fixture. And I trust the Oluyole Warriors to claim their first full points of the season.
My prediction: 2-1
Kano Pillars v Bayelsa United [Sani Abacha Stadium]
The champions play their first game of the season and without some of their key men. Gambo Muhammed, Adamu Murtala, Eneji Otekpa and Christian Obiozor, who is down with fever, are all missing. But the Kano club have Adamu Mohammed and Adamu Hassan as the men to start up front for them.
Bayelsa United started with a draw at home against Lobi Stars, and this game looks quite a task to overcome for them. I do not think that United will leave Kano with a point.
My prediction: 2-0

Nasarawa United v Wikki Tourists [Lafia Township Stadium]
Victor Yakubu was the hero in the Tourists' two-nil on the opening day. A lot of enthusiasts are already hoping he will be a candidate for the top scorer and may be score more than 23 goals to beat Mfon Udoh's record.
Nasarawa United began the season with a loss. They suffered a one-nil loss at El-Kanemi Warriors. I am going for Mohammed Baba Ganaru's men to make hay in this contest.
My prediction: 1-0
Akwa United v FC Taraba [Uyo Township Stadium]
Akwa United put up one of the most talked about defensive performance I have seen in a long while in the league at Enyimba and they came off good with a 0-0 draw. I am expecting Zachary Baraje to set up his men to go for the kill against FC Taraba.
FC Taraba edged Rangers 3-2 in their opening game with Abdulmalik Mohammed, Abel Bobby and Luter Iyorhe starring. Last term, FC Taraba earned a point from this fixture but with Baraje in the saddle for Akwa United I do not think FC Taraba will leave Uyo with a point.
My prediction: 1-0
Sunshine Stars v Gabros FC [Akure Stadium]
The last time both teams faced off in this same fixture was in 12 years ago and Sunshine Stars won 1-0. I expect the Akure club to keep that streak going.
Gabros started on a winning note in their return to the top flight after 10 years. Defeating Warri WOlves 2-0 was quite a result for Gabros and that should toughen them for the challenge and rigours of the Glo Premier League. But Sunshine Stars will be a massive test for them especially with the return of Dele Olorundare and Ajani Ibrahim.
My prediction: 2-1
Kwara United v El-Kanemi Warriors [Kwara State Stadium]
I still do not understand how Kwara United failed to claim the full points at Dolphins. But they have the chance to do so when they play hosts to El-Kanemi. I am expecting Kwara United to go all guns blazing but it will be a close contest.
My prediction: 1-1
Enugu Rangers v Sharks [Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium]
This is another classic clash between two sides. Last season Rangers claimed the full points in this fixture by a goal. With the financial issues still bogging the Port Harcourt clubs, I am not expecting Rangers, who almost started the season winning a point at FC Taraba, to drop points.
My prediction: 2-0
*It was poor start to the season for The Predictor as he managed just two correct results including one exact score from the nine games of the opening day fixtures.
