Heartland condole Pillars

Glo Premier League side, Heartland have expressed their heartfelt condolences to match day 1 opponents Kano Pillars.
The Nigerian champions were on Thursday involved in an armed robbery on the outskirts of Abuja on their way to the Imo state capital, Owerri, for the season’s opener at Heartland on Saturday at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
Heartland top shot, Okechukwu Ibe said the news of the unfortunate incident jolted every member of the Heartland family as they were keenly expecting the Pyramid City side in Owerri for the match day 1 clash cracker.
While describing the sad incident as a dangerous threat to football in Nigeria, Ibe said it was a fate that could befell any club traveling for matches across the country.
The Heartland boss also prayed for the quick recovery of all those injured in the mindless attack.
“May God help all the injured to recover and may such never happen again to any team in Nigeria,” said Ibe to supersport.com.
The League management Company (LMC) has put off the Heartland and Pillars clash indefinitely while it moved quickly to reschedule the double header to be held in Port Harcourt on Saturday involving the ties, Dolphins v Kwara United and Sharks v Sunshine Stars respectively.
Pillars players who sustained various injuries include forward Gambo Mohammed, Reuben Ogbonnaya, Eneji Otekpa, Adamu Murtala and Moses Ekpai.
