Polokwane eyeing six points from Chippa

Polokwane City are on their way to Port Elizabeth on Wednesday night as they hope to bag the three points against Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Kick-off is at 7:30pm
Although the Citizens are placed at position six on the log table with 28 points from 20 matches, they have lost two of their previous encounters to SuperSport United by 4-1 in the Nedbank Cup and Orlando Pirates by 3-1 in the league.
Looking at the Chilli Boys camp, they are also not doing well of late as they lost one league game by 2-0 to Ajax Cape Town, drew 1-1 against Maritzburg United and also lost to Natal United on penalties in the Nedbank Cup.
The match is set to be an interesting affair as Rise and Shine’s coach Kosta Papic was at the helm of the hosts at the beginning of the season,.
Ernst Middendorp, however, is also eyeing his first victory with the Eastern Cape outfit.
To City’s striker, Puleng Tlolane, who’s also among the PSL top scorers with eight strikes, the match is a must-win for them.
“This is a must-win for us and we’re ready now, we’ve been playing good football but couldn’t win,” said Tlolane.
“Our mission is to go there and repeat what we did at home as we beat them (3-1). We want to take that advantage.
“The coach was there and could possibly give us an indication of what to expect in PE.
“We cannot afford to have three losses in a row because we must remain in the top six going forward.”
Nevertheless, the Chilli Boys Chief Operations Officer Lukhanyo Mzinzi, says going back to their home ground in 2015 means they’re set to retain the three points.
“This is a crucial encounter and it’s one that we obviously want to win because we can’t just donate six points to Polokwane,” said Mzinzi.
“We took an early lead in Polokwane and this is our chance to bag the three points – they’re not doing well.
“I see an interesting match but I must say going back to our stadium in 2015 means we can’t disappoint our supporters.
“We’re fortunate at the Nelson Mandela Stadium and we can’t afford to slip up at this juncture because every team is looking for the three points.”
