Phiri pleased with Stars qualities

Free State Stars coach Kinnah Phiri says he is pleased with a point from the first half of a tricky double-header this week.
Ea Lla Koto claimed a 1-1 draw with Orlando Pirates on Wednesday night and now welcome Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday for their next PSL clash as they seek to move away from the relegation scrap at the foot of the table.
Stars got their draw after Bafana Bafana striker Moeketsi Sekola equalised following an early opener from Kermit Erasmus.
"It was a balanced game, we also created a few chances going forward, they also came up with a few chances," Phiri said.
"But all in all, I think the boys played very well, we put up a good fight and looking at Pirates as a top team, we managed to hold them very well and we could have even won the game if we were good in taking our chances.”
Phiri did bemoan a lapse in defence that allowed Pirates to score and admits they will have to cut out such errors if they are to succeed gainst Sundowns.
"I'm happy, the midfield and defence stood very firm, they scored a goal from a lapse in defence but I think after that we stood very strong there,” the Malawian said.
"This is good preparation, I'm sure the boys are getting solidified, their mental capacity is getting stronger and looking at the game at the weekend, we'll still battle and give them a hard time."
