French side Lille has refused to allow midfielder Adama Traore ‘Noss’ join Mali for the 2015 Africa U-20 Championship.
Head coach Fagnéry Diarra had included 10 foreign-based players in his final squad for the March 8-22 competition with two prospects - Youssouf Koné and Traore from the French club.
The Ligue 1 side has however blocked the move to allow the 19-year-old who is breaking into the senior team leave for the AYC.
Traore is a promising prospect who made his Ligue 1 debut at 24 September 2014 against OGC Nice in a 1-0 away defeat. He scored against Evian TG last January after making his league debut in September 2014.
Mali who placed fourth at the last AYC are in Group B with Zambia, South Africa and Ghana. They face the young Chipolopolo in their tournament opener on March 9.
