SuperSport, Ajax look to bounce back

SuperSport United will look to bounce back from a loss in their last league match when they host Ajax Cape Town at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
Kick-off is at 6:00pm.
The side from Tshwane suffered their first league defeat to AmaZulu, going down 5-2 to the side from Durban last weekend.
The loss sees SuperSport placed seventh on the league table with 27 points from 20 matches, and attacking midfielder Thuso Phala admits they have learnt from their loss to AmaZulu and are expecting a tough match against Ajax.
“I think it [the loss to AmaZulu] was a wake-up call and we are eager to get back on track and cement our place in the top eight,” said Phala.
“We went for a win [against AmaZulu] and things just opened up at the back, it was just not our day, it was one of those games and we have put it behind us.
“Ajax are a very organised team and they are above us on the log, so for us to continue climbing the table we have to beat team.
“It is our home game, so we have to make that count, we are taking things one game at a time.”
Ajax are placed sixth on the league table with 28 points from 21 games, but come into this game off the back of a 1-0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs.
Speaking after that match coach Roger de Sa admitted his side were poor against the Amakhosi and will have to improve if they hope to beat SuperSport.
“I thought we weren’t very good (against Chiefs), we weren’t very good at all,” said De Sa.
“They (Chiefs) weren’t a lot better than us but we weren’t that good. We were poor and never got going.
“I know we had quite a lot of possession, but the possession didn’t mean anything because we couldn’t get the ball into the final third.
“Twelve shots on goal and we never hit the target once.
“The only time we threatened was with Nathan Paulse’s headers, two headers on target and that was it.
“We have to improve if we want to beat SuperSport.”
In head-to-head stats, SuperSport and Ajax have met in 31 league matches since 1999/2000.
Matsatsantsa have 12 wins compared to 10 for the Urban Warriors, while nine matches have been drawn.
SuperSport have won eight of their 15 home matches against Ajax, suffering four defeats in the process.
When the teams met earlier this season in Cape Town they played out a goalless stalemate.
