Lolo praise for ‘valuable’ Mzwakali

Roger de Sa told reports some weeks ago that Ajax Cape Town attacking midfielder Bantu Mzwakali would be at Real Madrid if he had more of a goal-scoring instinct.
While that tongue-in-cheek statement may have been a dig at the player’s wastefulness in front of goal, it is also a massive compliment to his all-round abilities and technical quality.
The 21-year-old has already been rewarded with a new two-year contract and the hope is at Ajax that he could follow in the footsteps of Thulani Serero and head to the motherclub in the Netherlands.
But he has work to do before then, even if teammate Cecil Lolo is hugely impressed with his contribution this term.
“Bantu is valuable to the team,” Lolo said. “He didn’t start the season well, because he had an injury, but he became an important part of the team as soon as he started playing.
“He goes past players with ease and he is always in the right areas as our number 10. That makes him a dangerous opponent to play against.”
Mzwakali will next be in action when Ajax host Bloemfontein Celtic in the Nedbank Cup Last 16 on Friday night.
