Nigeria vs Senegal: In numbers

The stage is set for the final game of the U20 2015 Africa Youth Championship in Dakar, Senegal as the hosts take on Nigeria in what promises to be an entertaining clash.

Nigeria came tops in Group A of the competition, beating Senegal 3-1 in the first group game and then navigated it’s way past Congo before drawing 2-2 with Ivory Coast to set up a semi-final clash with Ghana.

Two goals in each half, a fantastic header by Obinna Nwobodo off a corner kick and a Musa Muhammed penalty ensured passage to the final of the biennial tournament.

Senegal’s passage wasn’t as smooth as Nigeria’s. After losing to Nigeria, Senegal played out a 2-2 draw with Ivory Coast before needing an injury time winner in the 4-3 win over Congo to book a place in the semi-finals.

The Young Teranga Lions beat the odds by defeating favourites Mali 2-1 in a fierce semi-final to set up a date with Nigeria.
