Rockvillesportainment can reveal that Nigeria National League side, Gombe United, have attracted highly rated trio of Ndubuisi Ekweribe, Omoh Ojabu and Okiki Musampa, in a bid to make an immediate return to the Glo Premier League.
Relegated last term from the top flight, Gombe United begin life in the lower division under former Super Eagles gaffer, Austin Eguavoen, who joined the team during the second half of last term.
Ekweribe comes with two years experience in the top flight at Kaduna United and El-Kanemi Warriors, while Ojabu, a former junior international joins Eguavoen’s outfit from Dolphins.
Musampa, who has played for top sides like 3SC and Kano Pillars, was one of the top scorers at relegated Nembe City.
Reacting to the development, club captain, Alhaji Kwairanga said: “It’s good for the team because our target is to return to the Premier League.
“Apart from the trio, others from lower division sides have since resumed training.”
Gombe United have never won the top division, but shocked the fraternity in 2007 when they finished second ahead of traditional powerhouse Enugu Rangers during the Super Four play-off, in Lagos.
And in 2008, the club lost the defunct Coca-Cola FA Cup, now Federation Cup, to defunct side, Ocean Boys, on penalties.
