Okon okays Nwabuoku’s switch

Super Falcons head coach, Edwin Okon has said there is no cause for alarm over captain and midfielder, Evelyn Nwabuoku’s choice for a Kazakhstani side, Biik Kazygurt FC.
The former Rivers Angels playmaker penned one season deal with the Shymkent-based topflight side.
Okon said he is hopeful that the mercurial midfielder will further improve by the time she comes back for the side crucial assignments.
“I’m positive she will remain in-form by the time she returns for the two-legged Olympic qualifying match against Mali as well as the World Cup final in Canada.
“She is due back home on May 02 for the Olympic Games first fixture clash against Mali on May 09.
“We’ve equally obtained the approval of her manager that once she comes back for the Olympic qualifying matches she will stay back with her teammates until after the Fifa Women’s World Cup in Canada.
“She would’ve headed to the club side earlier than now but for the demands of the All Africa Games qualifying matches which she played a crucial role in helping the side to pick the ticket ahead of Mali.
“Her Kazakhstani championship side, Biik kazygurt insisted on having her in their midst for the start of their season so we’ve so choice but to allow her join them.
“The switch to the Kazakhstani side is good for her career and I’m sure it’ll add value to Super Falcons.
“So there is nothing to worry about she is still part and parcel of Falcons’ preparations for the All Africa Games, Olympics as well as the World Cup,” said the former Falconets head coach to supersport.com.
Nwabuoku was key to her former side, Rivers Angels several podium performances as well as an invaluable member of Super Falcons especially in their quest for laurel at the global stage.
